in order to travel abroad, one must possess a very important document: a passport. in view of the changes implemented by the DFA and the lack of updated information on how to secure one, it is high-time to make a guide in order to save time and effort.

fill up the information properly. after completing the process, choose the date and time. a verification e-mail will be sent to you. once you click the link, you will be sent the appointment form which you have to print on long bond paper (2 pages).
the appointment is set in two months time.

how do i prove my citizenship?
- obtain a NSO birth certificate on SecPa
you can either go to the NSO office at Quezon City or you can apply online.
for online NSO documents, use this site: https://www.ecensus.com.ph/Secure/frmIndex.asp
read the instructions carefully. print the resulting form (one copy is enough) then head to the nearest BDO to pay the listed amount. it will take 1-2 days to process the payment and you can keep tab on the progress of your request. you will receive an e-mail once they will send the requested documents.
this will cost 315 pesos per document inclusive of the documentary stamps and delivery.
- obtain voter's record from Comelec District Office
if you religiously vote every election period then you will have an easier time. they will issue a voter validation with picture and biometrics duly signed by the concerned election officer and with comelec dry seal.
this will include the voter's list, signature and thumb print. this will be duly marked as certified true copy and signed by the election officer.
80 pesos for colored, 75 for black and white
documents needed
- two valid IDs
the only accepted IDs are: new Voter's ID, SSS ID (issuance is on hold at the moment), PRC ID, driver's license and school ID
photocopy the IDs. bring the two IDs with you for verification purposes.

- NBI clearance for travel abroad (on green paper) worth 115 pesos
- if married then you will also need NSO Marriage certificate
- photocopy of parents' passport

if you need your passport immediately, write a letter of request to the passport director stating the reason. once approved the amount of 1200 will be charged.
head to the second floor for payment. after paying, you will head to encoding, picture taking and biometrics.
FOR RENEWAL:
photocopy of the first page and last page of your old passport. bring the old passport with you. no need to bring other documents.
FOR LOST PASSPORT:
same as new applicant plus the following:
- notarized affidavit of explanation
- police report if passport is still valid
- replacement fee of 200

how to get there:
- by bus, ride MIA 611 Tambo. just tell the bus conductor to drop you at the DFA.
- by jeep, only in the morning. there's a white fierra plying LRT EDSA to DFA.
- you can also walk from Redemptorist church in Baclaran. simply cross the foot bridge, go down on the left stairs, walk towards Bradco then turn right.
